England held off Puerto Rico in overtime for a dramatic 7-6 win to advance the quarterfinals on day seven of the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship.
Christian Scarpello scored the winning goal, his fourth of the game. Goalkeeper William Baxter made four saves.
Will Mark made nine saves for Puerto Rico, including a point-blank denial to keep the game tied in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter.
England will play the Australia in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 10 a.m. in a rematch of their earlier Pool A clash at USD Torero Stadium.
