Argentina defeated Mexico in the fifth place game, 16-8, at the 2025 Pan-American Women’s Lacrosse Championship on Monday to earn direct qualification for the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Tokyo, Japan.
Argentina claimed the fifth spot awarded to a PALA team at the continental championship, joining Canada, the Haudenosaunee, Puerto Rico and the United States.
The 16-team field for the 2026 Women’s Championship is now confirmed, with all teams outside of the host Japan having to earn their spots through qualification:

- Haudenosaunee (Pan-American)

- Puerto Rico (Pan-American)
- Scotland (Europe)
- Chinese Taipei (Asia-Pacific)
- United States (Pan-American)
- Wales (Europe)
All 16 teams have appeared in a women’s championship before, with Argentina and Puerto Rico making just their second appearance in the event after debuting in 2022.
The 2026 Women’s Championship will take place from July 24 to August 2.
