The New Zealand Women’s Senior Squad (NZBLAX) is currently seeking applicants for the World Cup Leadership Team. Positions include Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager, Team Fitness Director, and Team Physio.
Applicants may apply as individuals or together.
I. INTRODUCTION
The New Zealand Women’s Senior Squad is currently ranked 11th in the world based on their 2013 World Cup performance. In 2009 NZBLAX had a 12th place finish.
Our aspiration is to reach a ranking of 8th or better after 2017. In order to do this we need to develop and learn through intuitive and dedicated coaching for the next 3 years.

Expression of Interest for Head Coach to the New Zealand Women’s 2017 World Cup Lacrosse Team:
II. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head Coach will undertake the following tasks:
- Be responsible for the total preparation of the extended squad team, (training, fitness, motivation and strategy).
- Develop and initiate the squad training program, including camps, lead up tournaments and personal skill based
- Identify areas of weakness both skill-based and strategy based.
- Develop the team to build up to 2017 World Cup Schedule to finish with a top 8 ranking.
- Work with the Physical Trainer to attain the building blocks that will allow 2017 team to compete physically with the best teams in the World.
- Select the required Squad for tournaments with consideration of player and team development to the World Cup Squad.
- Provide timetables and schedules for each training weekend which will be distributed to players by the Management Team.
III. WHAT WE OFFER
- Salary: Volunteer
- All costs involved in travel will be covered.
- All accommodation costs will be covered.
- A squad of enthusiastic and dedicated players willing to learn and aspire to achieve their best.
- Assistance in putting together a winning support team, including Team Physio, Team Physical Trainer, Management Support, at least one Assistant Coach.
IV. JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS
- The primary requirement is demonstrated success as a Women’s Lacrosse coach;
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to relate to a wide range of people;
- An innovative, energetic and motivating style;
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills;
- Able to work independently and as part of a team;
- The successful applicant must hold a full driver’s license.

Once confirmed, it is expected this post will be for a term lasting until the end of the 2017 Senior Women’s World Cup. Thereafter, the successful candidates will be given the opportunity to re- apply for the next campaign. Candidates should be clear in advance that these positions bear no financial rewards. Reporting lines and decision-making criteria will be defined to all candidates invited before the NZWLA interview panel, which shall retain the right of absolute discretion over final appointments.
However, the Head Coach is expected to be appointed first and would then be consulted closely with regard to the other positions. NZWLA retains the right of discretion to appoint an exceptional candidate to any of these positions prior to the deadline set out.
