Australia and Japan will meet for gold in both the men’s and women’s draws after all four won their semifinals on day five of the 2026 Asia-Pacific Sixes Lacrosse Championships on Australia’s Sunshine Coast.
Australia was dominant on both sides. The men routed China 22-4 and the women beat Korea 15-4, with goalkeeper Elizabeth “Buzzy” Hinkes named MVP. The Japanese men were pushed hard by the Philippines before winning 14-10, while the Japan women were too strong for the Philippines, winning 23-5 to complete an Australia vs. Japan final on both sides.
The Philippines will now play for bronze in the men’s and women’s competitions, with the men facing China and the women taking on Korea.
It was also a day of milestones. In placement play, the Singapore men claimed their first win of the tournament with an 18-2 victory over Saudi Arabia to finish 10th. The India women notched their first win, beating Singapore 15-4, to place ninth and India’s men followed with a 14-8 win over Saudi Arabia, their second international win that sealed ninth place.
Additionally, in seventh place matchups, the New Zealand men edged Korea 16-15 , and the China women beat Hong Kong, China 9-7, both in tight contests.
