Nissin Foods 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship concludes after ten days in Tokyo

USA and Canada play on August 2, 2026 in the World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Tokyo, Japan at Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium.

The Nissin Foods 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship concluded on Sunday after 44 games in 10 days of action in Tokyo, with the United States ascending past Canada for a dominant 16-4 win in the gold medal game.

The United States’ near-flawless championship performance reaffirmed its perch atop international women’s lacrosse. The United States has now won five consecutive women’s championships dating back to 2013 and extended its winning streak to 36 games, dating back to 2009.

Over 10 days, more than 30,000 fans attended games between Oi Stadium and Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium.

WL CEO Jim Scherr said: “The Nissin Foods 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship has been an extraordinary celebration of our sport and a fitting return to Japan, nearly three decades after this remarkable nation first hosted the championship. Over the past 10 days, we have witnessed world-class competition, unforgettable performances and the continued growth of women’s lacrosse on the global stage. We are deeply grateful to the Japan Lacrosse Association; the Tokyo Metropolitan Government; our title partner Nissin Foods; our supporting partners; and the passionate organizing committee, staff and incredible volunteer corps whose commitment made this championship such a resounding success.

“Most importantly, we thank the athletes, officials and fans from around the world who created an unforgettable atmosphere and demonstrated the very best of what our global lacrosse community represents. Japan has once again set an exceptional standard for hosting a World Lacrosse championship, and we leave Tokyo inspired for the future of our sport.”

In the bronze medal game, Israel stifled the Haudenosaunee in a superb defensive performance to win its first-ever medal at the women’s championship. The Haudenosaunee achieved their best-ever finish in fourth place.

Ally Kennedy, the United States midfielder, was named the Most Valuable Player of the women’s championship. The 10-woman World Team featured five players from the United States, three from Canada and two from Israel.

Puerto Rico notched a best-ever finish in eighth place, while Argentina jumped 17 spots to a best-ever ninth-place finish, up from 26th in 2022. The Philippines recorded a 10th place finish in its debut in the championship, while Ireland improved two spots with its 11th place finish.

The final day of placement play at the championship ended with two dramatic overtime wins from Argentina and England, which took fifth over its rival Australia.
