The two title favorites, Canada and the United States, marched through their semifinals on Friday against Australia and the Haudenosaunee to set up another gold medal bout at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship on day eight on Jeju Island in Korea.
The two teams have battled in the final for the last six editions of the Men’s U20 Championship, and Canada will try to dethrone its long-time rival, the only team to win all nine editions of the event.
The squads met on day two of action in Korea, and the United States stopped Canada on the final possession in a 7-6 thriller, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated matches on the global lacrosse calendar.
The gold medal game is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. local time (UTC+9).
Australia and the Haudenosaunee will brawl for bronze at 10 a.m. on Sunday in another tantalizing clash, as Australia got the better of the three-time defending medalists in pool play in overtime, 15-14. In 2022, Australia also won in pool play only for the Haudenosaunee to get the last laugh on the final day.
Elsewhere in action on day eight, Japan and Puerto Rico rebounded from their quarterfinal defeats with impressive wins against strong Jamaica and England sides.
A full slate of placement matches is set for Saturday, with the fifth place game between Japan and Puerto Rico the highlight.
