Canada flexes its muscle in quarterfinal win over Jamaica at 2025 Men’s U20 Championship

Canada opened its knockout campaign in style with a 21-1 win over Jamaica in the quarterfinals at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship on Thursday in Seogwipo, Korea.

Canada scored three goals in the first quarter, but picked up a full head of stream from there, dropping three consecutive 6-0 frames on Jamaica to roll into the semifinals.

Canada outshot Jamaica 44-13, won 21 of 25 face-offs and scored 21 of 28 of its shots on goal.

After its one-goal defeat to the United States in its first game, Canada has scored 47 goals in three games and allowed just 13.

Canada will take on Australia in the first semifinal on Friday at 4 p.m. The two teams met in pool play with Canada taking a 13-4 win.

Jamaica will move into placement play in a bracket for fifth place, having already guaranteed an improvement on its ninth place finish in 2022. Jamaica will take on Japan at 4:10 p.m. on Friday.

Jack Oldman sparked Canada with a strong performance on face-offs. Jared Maznik was the best attacker on the day with two goals and four assists.

David Peterkin stepped up with two goals and three assists and Brendan Marino added four goals.

The Canada defense allowed just seven shots on goal.

MJ Sion made seven saves for Jamaica.
