The 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship enters knockout competition with four games of the play-in round on Wednesday in Korea.

The four winners will advance to the quarterfinals, with intriguing clashes between Ireland and Jamaica as well as England and Mexico standing out as games to watch.

Additionally, six teams are in action in the placement bracket towards 13th place.

Japan and Germany face off for a quarterfinal spot against Australia. Germany impressed in wins against Chinese Taipei and Kenya but Japan will be a tough challenge after blazing past the Netherlands and Hong Kong, China.

Ireland and Jamaica shapes up to be a fascinating clash between Ireland’s deliberate style and bruising defense and Jamaica’s exciting attackers and a formidable defense in its own right. Jamaica pushed England into the fourth quarter and Ireland faced a tough battle against Mexico, so this clash could be one of the matches of the day. The winner will face Canada.

The Netherlands will try to slow down Puerto Rico, who have been the best scoring offense and defense in Seogwipo through five days, earning the fifth overall seed. The winner takes on the Haudenosaunee.

England and Mexico close the day in a highly anticipated encounter. England have a disciplined and deep roster, and pulled away late from Jamaica and Korea, but will get a fierce challenge from Mexico, who pushed Ireland hard in a physical affair. The winner will take on the United States.
