Puerto Rico blazes past Germany in opener at Men’s U20 Championship

Puerto Rico laid down an impressive marker in its opening contest at the 2025 World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship, handling Germany for a 20-2 win on Saturday in Seogwipo, Korea.

Puerto Rico started hot with a 6-0 first quarter and never looked back, outshooting Germany 68-17 on the day and forcing Germany into 26 turnovers.

Puerto Rico also went 19 of 26 on draws with Chris Testa and Wilfredo Crispin both contributing.

Seven different players had multiple-goal outings for Puerto Rico, with Nick Testa’s five points on two goals and three assists leading the pack. Sean Laureano also had five points with four goals and an assist while Lorenzo Varona and Joseph Rafferty chipped in four points each.

Erik Mischel and David Scheider each made nine saves for Germany. Aaron Trapp and Fionn Mulvey both scored.

Puerto Rico improved to 1-0 atop Pool E and will face Kenya on Sunday. Germany faces Chinese Taipei on Monday.
