(from press release) Germany officially released its squad for the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championships. The decision was based on an overall of three camps held from autumn 2013 until mid of January this year. The selection process was much harder than the years before due to a higher level of play but also increased fitness requirements. Among the selected players are several returning national players and veterans such as Hendrik du Bois-Reymond (A) (who played for Germany Head Coach Jack Kaley at NYIT), Christopher Frank (M), Jan Miofsky (D) and Philipp Maas (G).
Furthermore, some new faces will enter the line up. Mostly guys from the German hotbeds of Munich, Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne. Germany is especially proud to feature three former U19 players from the FIL U19 World Championships 2012 in Finland. This shows the growth and development of German Lacrosse, such as that younger players have the quality to step into the national team already.
Finally, over the span of spring and preparation for the tournament in Denver the active roster will be cut down to 23 players. Germany will make its first appearance at the end of March in the spring preparation Tournament in Stuttgart, Germany. However, the Berlin Open Tournament in June will give a first indication how well the team can do in Denver.

Info: The last and final tryout camp was held in Cologne, Germany, on the weekend of 17-19th of January 2014. This was the 2nd invitational tryout within the selection process and compared to two years ago (squad for the 2012 European Championships) the number of players was much shorter already (40 participants compared to 50 in 2012).
At the final practice of the weekend the German team played the local team from Cologne including their national players. Final score was 12:5 for Germany.
