The Asia-Pacific Lacrosse Union (APLU) announced the hosts for three upcoming events on the calendar
The Asian Lacrosse Games will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from September 29 to October 6 in 2025. The event features men’s and women’s sixes competition and is in its second edition after Uzbekistan hosted in 2024.
The Asia-Pacific Men’s Lacrosse Championship, set for January of 2026, will be held in Wellington, New Zealand. The men’s field competition will also serve as the APLU qualifier for the 2027 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship, set to be held in Japan.
Additionally, Korea will host the inaugural U16 Sixes Championship and U12 Youth Festival with dates and an exact venue to be determined soon.
“Korea and New Zealand, both founding members of the APLU since 2004, have played pivotal roles in the development of lacrosse in the region,” the APLU said in a release. “Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the Asian Lacrosse Games signifies a significant step in expanding the sport into new territories.”
The World Lacrosse sanctioned event calendar has been updated to reflect the addition of the Asian Lacrosse Games and the Asia-Pacific Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
The APLU is set for a momentous few years on the global lacrosse stage, having kicked off a four-year sequence of World Lacrosse Championships in the region in 2024 with the Women’s U20 Championship in Hong Kong, China.
In 2025, the Korea Lacrosse Association will host the Men’s U20 Championship in August in Seogwipo on Jeju Island. Then in 2026 and 2027, the Japan Lacrosse Association will host the Women’s Championship and Men’s Championship, respectively.
In the short term, Lacrosse Australia is also set to host the APLU Qualifier for the 2026 Women’s Championship in January.
