From the Vault: Canada comes from behind against England to advance to the gold medal game in Peterborough  

Looking to defend its gold medal, Canada came from behind to defeat England, advancing to the championship game at the 2019 Women’s U19 World Championship in Peterborough, Ontario. Canada rallied in the fourth quarter to advance out of the semifinal.

Canada jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals from Kylea Dobson and Ainsley Thurston, assisted by Eve Hritzuk, but England came right back putting up four unanswered goals, two each from Hannah Thurston and Georgina Southorn. 

The game was back and forth with each side scoring three goals, until the fourth quarter. 

Down by two, Canada rallied to score five goals throughout the fourth quarter, three of which were from free positions. Kylea Dobson and Raegan Wilson each with a goal, and Shonly Wallace with three to end it.  

Kylea Dobson (CAN), Eve Hritzuk (CAN) and Hannah Thurston (ENG) were named to the All-World Team at the conclusion of the tournament.  

England ended up finishing fourth after losing to Australia 13-8, in the bronze medal match. Canada ended up falling to the United States in the championship game 13-3, earning a silver medal at the 2019 Women’s U19 World Championship.
