COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO, USA — In order to support the continued growth of lacrosse around the globe, World Lacrosse will conduct its first-ever Coach Developer Academy this week in conjunction with LaxCon 2020 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
Participants in the first-ever World Lacrosse Coach Developer Academy.
An initiative of the World Lacrosse Development Committee, the purpose of the Coach Developer Academy is to provide educational materials, training and other resources for coaches who, in turn, will be expected to develop and lead coaching education programs in their home countries. Similar “train the trainer” programs have proven to be extremely effective in other sports that, like lacrosse, are experiencing significant growth in participation around the world.
The content and curriculum for this program will be available within the World Lacrosse NGB Toolkit on the World Lacrosse web site (www.worldlacrosse.sport), and additional Coach Developer Academy sessions will be offered in the future to provide this program to more countries.
Participants in the inaugural World Lacrosse Coach Developer Academy represent the following member-National Governing Bodies: Australia, Finland, Israel, Luxembourg, Norway and Taiwan.
The coaches were chosen based upon nominations from the World Lacrosse Development Committee and recommendations from their Continental Federation or National Governing Body. National Governing Bodies interested in future participation in the Academy should send a letter of interest to TJ Buchanan (tbuchanan@worldlacrosse.sport).

Membership in World Lacrosse continues to grow, and with the recent addition of Barbados and Lithuania, the international federation now has 65 member-National Governing Bodies around the globe.
An event of US Lacrosse, the highly successful US Lacrosse Convention (LaxCon) annually brings together approximately 7,000 coaches, officials, administrators and fans from the lacrosse community for the three-day event.
