The top seeds all advanced to the semifinals. In the men’s quarterfinals, the three defending medalists from 2019, Canada, the United States and the Haudenosaunee, cruised to wins while England stopped an undefeated Czechia team with its best performance so far.

In the women’s quarterfinals, Canada and the United States scored sizable wins against teams that advanced from the play-in round on Wednesday. The Haudenosaunee prevailed over Germany in a defensive battle while Australia overturned a six-goal deficit to stun England in another chapter of their storied rivalry

Quotables

Haudenosaunee men’s head coach Roger Chrysler on his team’s rematch against the United States in the semifinals:
I think it will be a different product out there tomorrow. It’s just going to be a very entertaining game.
United States men’s head coach Regy Thorpe’s thoughts on the rematch:
We haven’t been able to get past them in the past, but this is a really gritty team. We happened to get them this first time, but this one’s going to be different.
The Netherlands’ Sarah Sramota on her team’s energy throughout the championship:
It’s been amazing. I feel like I’m kind of in this crazy bubble. I am feeling very much at home in this community, so it’s been making me feel very happy.
The Netherlands’ Kristen Kerr on being part of the first women’s box championship:
It is so surreal being amongst all of the women at the first-ever event. I have a daughter at home, and it is so cool to show her the power of women’s sports.
England men’s head coach Walt Christianson on preparing for a quarterfinal match after a tough Pool A slate:
That’s what we’ve been doing for a year, mentally preparing for the draw. We said we’re going to play these three games, but our whole focus was today, and it feels great.
England’s Lyndon Bunio on his teammate queuing Sweet Caroline for the locker room celebrations:
He’s been wanting to play that all tournament. I’m glad he got the chance to play that now.
