Canada – Haudenosaunee

Canada advanced to the gold medal game with a comprehensive 19-3 win over the Haudenosaunee in the second semifinal of the women’s box championship on Friday evening.

The Haudenosaunee defense provided stiff resistance early and Canada led 3-1 after a hard-fought first quarter.

But behind its power play efficiency and four goals from Erica Evans in the second quarter, Canada jumped to a 9-1 lead at halftime.

Canada grabbed the momentum for good with a nine goal run that spanned the majority of the second half.

Erica Evans finished with seven goals and four assists in one of the spectacular displays of the championship. Megan Kinna added five points and 10 players ended up on the scoresheet for the victors.

Chelsea Doolittle and Chelsea Gibson combined for 47 saves for the Haudenosaunee.

Canada will take on the United States in the gold medal match on Sunday in a new chapter of the program’s rivalry for the chance to claim the first-ever women’s box championship.

The Haudenosaunee will meet Australia on Saturday for the bronze medal.
