The United States stayed a step ahead of Canada throughout a 21-11 win to take the gold medal at the 2025 Pan-American Women’s Lacrosse Championship in Auburndale, Florida on Monday afternoon.
The United States kept the upper hand on its rival Canada, particularly in senior women’s field lacrosse, where the United States has not lost to its neighbor since at least 2013. The two teams have met in the last three women’s championships, and both qualified for the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Tokyo, Japan during the inaugural Pan-American Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
The first breathing room for the hosts in the game came in a three-goal spurt finished at the start of the second quarter that resulted in an 8-3 lead.
Canada fought back to within three, but the United States closed the half on a three-goal run before starting the third-quarter on a lightning-quick three-goal flurry within four minutes to make the score 13-5. Rachel Clark scored two in the mid-game stretch.
Canada did respond with a four-goal run keyed by Erica Evans, but Izzy Scane answered right before the fourth quarter to deflate any momentum into the final frame, where the hosts finished strong on a 6-2 quarter scoreline.
Thirteen different players scored for the United States in a diverse showing, with Scane the only player to get to three goals.
Kenzie Kent and Chloe Humphrey provided three assists each and both finished with four points. Caylee Waters also made five saves in the second half for the United States.
On a relatively even day on draws, the United States’ ferocity on loose balls, especially showcased on a 6-1 advantage on ground balls in the first half, made a key difference.
Erica Evans and Nicole Perroni both tallied four points for Canada.
