Three experienced World Lacrosse officials – Cheryl MacNeill, Carolyn Toll, and Mara Wager – were on the crew umpiring the final of the 2025 Women’s Lacrosse League Championship Series on Monday, February 17/
The sixes competition was the first edition of the Women’s Lacrosse League, featuring four rosters of 12-players each in the only current iteration of women’s professional lacrosse in North America.
The three officials were part of a four-person all-woman crew for the historic final, and all three have been significantly involved in the sport throughout their careers.
MacNeill was awarded the World Lacrosse International Officiating Award in 2023 for her lifelong impact to the growth and development of lacrosse officiating, with over 20 years of international officiating experience. MacNeill has served on the World Lacrosse Rules Committee for more than 10 years and is based in Canada
Toll, also based out of Canada, currently serves on the World Lacrosse Rules Committee as the sixes discipline expert, and has been officiating internationally for 20 years.
Wager, based in the United States, has worked in women’s international lacrosse since 2000 and officiated in numerous world championships, having most recently served on the officials’ leadership team for mentoring, evaluating and assessing officials at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s U20 Championship in Hong Kong, China.
