2018 Men’s Lacrosse World Championship to be the Most Widely Available Lacrosse Event of All Time

NETANYA, ISRAEL  – The 2018 FIL Men’s Lacrosse World Championship will be the most widely viewable Lacrosse event ever, as at least 160 games will be produced for the tournament, July 11-21, in Netanya, Israel. More than 300 hours of lacrosse will be broadcast to more than 46 nations.

The broadcast package features coverage highlighted by ESPN and its affiliates ESPN Tres in Mexico and Central America; ESPN and ESPN2 in Australia and New Zealand, Brazil and parts of South America; ESPN networks in the Caribbean; and TSN throughout Canada. Across the Europe, subscription streaming service ESPNPlayer will make it available to more than 50 countries.

“The broadcast packages on both the linear and digital platforms is very robust and the best ever for a Lacrosse World Championship,” said Jim Scherr, FIL CEO. “The partnerships with ESPN globally, TSN in Canada, and host broadcaster Sport 5 in Israel are key to our increased reach for Lacrosse, especially in key global markets for sport development. With the enhanced hours, lacrosse fans will be able to experience content on various platforms from all games without missing any of the action in Israel. We will attract new viewers to this growing and very exciting sport.”

  • ESPN networks will provide coverage of the semi-finals and finals in the Caribbean.

  • TV Sport 5 in Israel (HOST)

Additionally, Sport 5 in Israel will provide two additional games’ broadcast that feature host country Israel vs. Russia on Saturday, July 14 at 9 p.m. (local time) and the play-in game on Wednesday, July 18 at 9 p.m. (local time) from Wingate Sport Institution.

In addition, ESPN+, the first-ever multi-sport, direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer & International segment in conjunction with ESPN, will cover 160 games. ESPN+ offers fans thousands of live events, on-demand content and original programming not available on ESPN TV or digital networks.

Information will be made available via various digital and social media platforms on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other media partners such as LAX Sports Network, Lacrosse All-Stars, NLLTV.
